'Me Pongo de Pie' Release Date & News 2015: New Univision Singing Talent Show Will Partner Parents and Kids
A new singing talent show is coming to Univision Sunday, according to a press release from the network.
The show, called "Me Pongo de Pie" (Here I Stand), will feature parents and their kids singing together on stage while being rated by judges.
The unique show will pair up kids and parents to sing traditional tunes as well as today's greatest hits. The 10-week show will have the parent-and-child duos team up and sing every Sunday with six music celebrities who will act as their captains.
The six music celebrities acting as captains are: singers Paty Cantu, Ha-Ash, Pee Wee, Rio Roma, Noel Schajris and Maria Leon. These captains will lead two duos each.
The show will be judged by soloist and former Mecano singer Ana Torroja, best-selling pop star Cristian Castro and Mexican regional singer Espinoza Paz. These three judges willl be assisted by a 100-person panel to evaluate the singers and award them points based on their performances. The judges have the the power to veto the tallies by the panel and make their own decisions.
Me Pongo de Pie will start off with 12 duos. Each week, the duo that scores the least amount of points will be eliminated.
The show will be emceed by "Hoy" and "Va Por Ti" host Galilea Montijo. Montijo will be joined by Televisa Deportes host and recent participant in "Bailando por un Sueno" Vanessa Huppenkothen.
