The Google Nexus 6 smartphone is a high-performance device with tons of great features, such as a large, clear HD display and the latest version of Android. China's OnePlus One smartphone is a newer competitor that provides similar specs and a low price.

There are some differences between the two high-end smartphones, starting off with size. The first thing a Nexus 6 user will notice is its size, it is a large smartphone that is not able to be operated with just one hand. The 6-inch screen is crisp and clear, but it might be too big for some users. The OnePlus One still is considered a large smartphone, but it only has a 5.5-inch display and is overall easier to carry, according to Know Your Mobile.

The displays on the two smartphones not only differ in size, but also in quality. The Nexus 6 has the 6-inch quad high definition (QHD) display, while the OnePlus One uses a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p display. This would normally point to the Nexus 6 having the better display, but with the huge and detailed display battery life suffers greatly, the display kills the battery.

Both smartphones come equipped with 13 megapixel sensors that take good pictures, but nothing all that impressive. The OnePlus One ends up taking better point-and-shoot pictures, but neither smartphone will take amazing photos.

The performance of both smartphones are pretty similar. The Nexus 6 has the better processor, opting to use the Snapdragon 805 processor. The OnePlus One uses the older, but still very capable, Snapdragon 801 processor. Both devices come equipped with 3 GB of RAM which is plenty for almost all smartphone tasks. Buyers can choose between storage amounds of either 32 GB or 64 GB for both devices, but the OnePlus One ends up being way cheaper, even when upgraded to 64 GB.

A big difference between the two devices is battery life. Despite having a big 3,200 mAh battery, the Nexus 6 disappoints with its battery life. The QHD display really sucks up a lot of battery and that is why the Nexus 6 battery life is so disappointing and short. The OnePlus One with its 1080p display receives great battery life with its 3,100 mAh battery. The difference in the screen quality is what really helps the OnePlus One receive the better battery life.

When comparing prices, the OnePlus One is a great buy. For just $300, an unlocked OnePlus One can be purchased with 32 GB of internal storage. Since the OnePlus One does not offer a microSD slot to add more storage, upgrading to the 64 GB model for just $50 is a good idea.

The Nexus 6 is available off contract for $699.99 from Best Buy. To get the price down, customers will have to sign a 2-year contract with a major carrier. This is for the 32 GB model.
