The name Jeffrey Dahmer is enough to strike a disturbing pulse of horror.

The crimes he committed were unmentionable, to say the least. But the convicted murderer spent just a couple of years in prison before he was beaten to death by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver in November of 1994.

Since Dahmer's murder nearly 21 years ago, Scarver has remained mostly quiet. But he has broken his silence and opened up to New York Post on revelations as to why he beat Dahmer to death.

NYP reports that Scarver said Dahmer would unnerve him by doing some very disturbing things while in prison. What Scarver details is that Dahmer would do things like fashion his prison food into severed limbs and drizzle ketchup around them to resemble blood.

"He would put them in places where people would be," Scarver told New York Post. "He crossed the line with some people -- prisoners, prison staff. Some people who are in prison are repentant -- but he was not one of them."

He said Dahmer had a guard around him at all times when he was in the general population, due to his steadily increasing unpopularity.

"I saw heated interactions between [Dahmer] and other prisoners from time to time," Scarver said.

But Scarver did not have any real impressions of Dahmer and at the time claimed to have never interacted with him. He said he didn't want to be a target of his sickening humor.

On Nov. 28, 1994 though, all that would change when Scarver, Dahmer and another inmate, Jesse Anderson, were led to the gym to clean bathrooms. They were left unattended and without shackles. When Scarver was filling a water bucket, he said he was poked in the back. When he turned around, he saw Dahmer and Anderson laughing, under their breath.

Scarver said he could not tell who'd done it, but when Dahmer headed for the locker room, Scarver grabbed a metal bar from the weight room and followed.

"I asked him if he did those things 'cause I was fiercely disgusted. He was shocked. Yes, he was," Scarver said. "He started looking for the door pretty quick. I blocked him."

With only two swings of the bar, Scarver had crushed Dahmer's skull and killed him. He said he then went to another locker room where Anderson was and killed him the same way.

His account also details how he thought it was no accident he ended up alone with Dahmer. He claimed that prison officials knew how much he hated him and insinuated that he was set-up to take him out, although he did not comment definitively on that matter due to his own safety concerns, in regards to possible retaliation from prison officials.

Scarver has also been known to have mental issues of his own, which he said prison doctors have not been able to figure out.

"I found out in my own research what the problem is: Certain foods I eat cause me to have a psychotic break -- bread, refined sugar," he told NY Post. "Those are the main culprits."
