Five Nights at Freddy’s 4’ Release Date, News: Game Has Halloween Release, Hidden Messages in Teaser Image; Is The Bite of 87 Involved?
Five Nights at Freddy's developer Scott Cawthon has released a teaser image on the Scott Games website that announces a Five Nights at Freddy's 4 in the works.
The image, shown, also indicates a Halloween release for the newest installment in the popular indie horror series.
Like everything Cawthon does in the video game franchise, the teaser image has hidden details. Kotaku reports if fans play with their computer monitor levels, the word "nightmare" can be seen on the small animatronic head closest to "The Final Chapter."
Also, the Scott Games website has code and metadata with the numbers seven, eight and 87 repeated. This number may refer to The Bite of 87, an incident that happened in 1987 at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza mentioned by the Phone Guy in the first game. The Phone Guy did not say which animatronic was responsible. The bite allegedly caused the victim to lose the frontal lobe of his brain.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 suggests that the attack happened during the day after the game's Night 6. Jeremy Fitzgerald was asked to work the day shift and keep an eye on the animatronics.
After the incident, the animatronics were not allowed to wander around the building during the day. Management limited their free-roaming mode to night to "prevent their servos from locking up," as stated by Phone Guy.
The news of a fourth video game comes as somewhat of a surprise since it seemed Five Nights at Freddy's 3would end the series. Warner Bros. has purchased the rights to the video game series to make a movie, which may have given Cawthon inspiration to create a fourth game.
Cawthon is known for hiding secret messages, so fans can expect more surprises discovered in the teaser image and future ones.
The first "Five Nights At Freddy's" game was released in mid-2014. All three games are available on Steam, for PC only.
