Android Lollipop 5.0 and 5.1: When Will Each Device Receive the Update?
Android Lollipop 5.0 has been out for a while, but there are still some devices that are waiting for the update to the operating system. Other devices already received the 5.0 update and are gearing up for an upgrade to 5.1, according to TechRadar.
Google devices like the Nexus are the first to receive upgrades to the latest operating system. The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 came shipped with Lollipop 5.0. Older devices like the Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (WiFi) also have received the update. The Nexus 10 also received the update. The Nexus 7 (LTE) will receive the update soon.
The HTC One M8 already has Lollipop 5.0 but it will not receive the 5.1 update until August. With this update, the custom user interface HTC Sense will be updated from HTC Sense 6 UI to HTC Sense 7 UI.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 will soon be going to the 5.1 update. T-Mobile's S6 devices will get the update soon.
Most Samsung Galaxy S5 devices already have Lollipop 5.0. The older Galaxy S4 is slowly receiving updates to Lollipop 5.0, with devices in India getting it now and devices in the rest of the world will receive it soon.
The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will see an update to Lollipop 5.0 soon as well.
The entire Sony Xperia Z series will all see updates to Lollipop 5.0. The Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact are receiving updates in Europe and the updates are expected to come to North America soon.
Some LG G3 phones have already received the Lollipop 5.0 upgrade, but those who have not received it yet will be able to upgrade soon.
The LG G Pro 2 will be the next phone to receive the upgrade, followed by the LG G2.
The LG G4 will come with Lollipop 5.0 pre-installed.
Motorola is confirming through its blog that several of its devices will receive the Lollipop 5.0 update soon.
The first and second generation Moto X will receive the update and so will the Moto G, Moto G 4G and the Moto E.
The second generation Moto X and Moto G updates have already started showing up in the U.S. but there could be a delay as Motorola finishes testing the update.
