X-Men: Days of Future Past Movie Cast, News, and Rumors: Anna Paquin, Rogue Cut From the Film
Fans of X-Men's Rogue will definitely be disappointed to know that the character, played by True Blood actress Anna Paquin, has been cut from the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past movie.
According to The New York Daily News, director Brian Singer revealed that even though she's featured in the promotional photos, Paquin and her character have been cut from the final film. "Through the editing process, the sequence became extraneous. It's a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches, and it was just one of the things that had to go. Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in," he said.
And, according to Us Weekly, Anna already knows about the scene being cut. ""She completely understood," Singer said. "It's very disappointing, but she's very professional and she knows that stuff happens, particularly with material you shoot early on in production. Films evolve."
The film, which is set to hit theaters next summer, already boasts an all-star cast: Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Evan Peters, Nicholas Hoult, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Halle Berry and James McAvoy are amongst a myriad of other marquee stars to grace the screen. The plot of the movie is loosely based on a popular storyline of the same name by writer Chris Claremont and artist John Byrne during their X-Men run. In the time-traveling tale, present and future versions of the X-Men are linked by an assassination of a key senator that sets off a chain of events leading to a dystopian future where mutants are hunted into virtual extinction.
Do you think that Paquin being cut from the film is a bad thing? Or will it not make a difference in the long run? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
