iPad Pro Specs & Rumors: A Much Larger iPad With a 12-Inch Screen Could be Coming Later this Year [Watch]
New cases that would support a much larger iPad are showing up in a video. These cases are capable of holding the rumored iPad Pro, which could have a 12.3 to 12.9 inch display, according to 9to5Mac.
The rumored iPad Pro would be much larger than the iPad 2 Air, which has a 9.7 inch display. The full measurements for the iPad Air 2 are 9.45 x 6.67 x 0.24 inches. The new iPad Pro's case is 8.75 inches wide, 12 inches tall, 14.5 inches diagonal. That means the new iPad Pro will have similar measurements.
Take a look at the measurements of the cases for the rumored iPad Pro.
MacRumors further reported
on the iPad Pro saying it will feature a built-in NFC chip, pressure-sensitive Bluetooth stylus, Force Touch and a USB-C port.
The NFC chip will allow the iPad Pro to be used as an Apple Pay payment terminal, but it is likely too big to use as a tap-to-pay device. Currently, no iPads are able to use Apple Pay.
The USB-C port could either replace the Lightning connector or be added as a second port to be featured on the tablet. Cases that have leaked due to mock designs of the iPad Pro have shown two holes, hinting that there will be both a USB-C port and a Lightning connector port.
Adding a stylus would be a whole new addition for the iPad. None of the previous iPads have used a stylus for input.
The addition of Force Touch will follow what the Apple Watch has used for input. This technology detects the amount of pressure that a user puts on the display and responds in different ways based on the amount of pressure.
A new processor is set to be added to the new iPad. The iPad Air 2 uses the A8X processor. The new iPad will use Apple's next processor, likely the A9.
The iPad Pro will also feature a new touchscreen with improved latency.
If the rumors of the much larger iPad are true, the new iPad Pro would debut sometime this fall. It will feature a screen size that is more than 12 inches and could even be up to 13 inches.
