The theme of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art was China, and celebrities did not disappoint with their stylish Asian-inspired fashion at the 2015 Met Gala on Monday night, reports the New York Times.

The high-fashion event is an annual fundraiser for the museum's costume institute. It was held at the newly opened Anna Wintour Costume Center -- named to honor the Vogue magazine editor who co-hosts the annual event that has raised millions of dollars for the museum.

Ruby reds and gleaming golds dominated the color scheme as celebrities celebrated this year's "China: Through the Looking Glass" theme. Sequins and embroidery dazzled the eye-catching fashion.

A-list stars arrived to the Gala by the droves, but only a few grabbed media attention with their extraordinary fashion.

Madonna, 56, attended the fundraiser with a much younger man on her arm, DJ and music producer Diplo, 36. The Queen of Pop was adorned in a graffiti-covered Moschino gown. The white writing spelled out the name of her latest album "Rebel Heart." She accessorized the gown with a black cape, black leather gloves and a rose gold evening bag.
