‘Blue Bloods’ Season 6 Rumors & Recap: Here's Everthing that Happened in the Season 5 Finale
For die-hard "Blue Bloods" fans, the Season 5 finale did not disappoint. It gave us what we have come to expect of the series, according to Carter Matt, and even seemed to tie up loose ends, which left us wondering if the show would be returning to CBS next fall.
The finale aired on CBS Friday and was chock-full of emotion after Linda (Amy Carlson) was shot and found bleeding from the mouth, as outlined by Celebrity Dirty Laundry. Linda is conscious and coherent, tending to Hector (Felix Solis) when the doctors rush to his side and try to save his life, unsuccessfully.
They notice Linda's wounds and get her on a gurney and into the operating room for immediate medical care.
Meanwhile, Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Maria (Marisa Ramirez) are racing to the hospital when Maria gets the call with news about Linda, which sends Danny into a tailspin before and after arriving at the hospital. Jamie must fight to hold Danny back from his own pursuit of Linda, who was in surgery.
Carter Matt summarized the episode with its variances that led to the grateful ending. Linda makes it through the episode OK. But it was the simple idea that she was put in harms way that incites Danny's emotions and keeps them rolling throughout the episode. It all seemed like Danny was going to morph into the cliché of an NYPD cops revenge when he surprised viewers. Instead of killing Mario Hunt (guest star Method Man), he saved his life and made sure that he stays behind bars for a long time to come.
The episode actually ended with a nice family dinner, which also scared some viewers into thinking that the season did not just conclude, but maybe the series.
As reported by TVLine, the episode achieved about 11 million viewers and got a 1.3 share of the audience, which was a 10 percent increase. But despite strong ratings, CBS has yet to announce that season six would be returning in the fall.
But as CarterMatt pointed out in a separate article, CBS promos called the episode the season finale, as opposed to the series finale, or just simply, the finale. That means there is reasonable hope and optimism that the series has not yet been pulled from the air, and we may see Season 6 this fall.
