Joss Whedon has revealed that he wanted to put Captain Marvel and Spider-Man in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

During an interview, Whedon spoke about the difficulties of making the sequel and about the ideas he had for the movie. Whedon revealed that Captain Marvel would have been a great addition to the film. Whedon said, "I wanted all those people, but I said, 'It would be great if we could add a few more [characters], if we could have a Captain Marvel there, now that you've made a deal."

He also spoke about Spider-Man and said that Sony had approached him to add the character into the film. He said, "And I was like, 'And Spider-Man, we could do that too, cause Sony had approached us during the first movie about a little integration. So I would have put both of [those characters] in, but neither of the deals were made."

Whedon also spoke about cutting Loki after Tom Hiddleston was cast and was supposed to appear in the dream sequence. The director revealed that the studio felt the character did not work in the film. He said, "And we had Loki in the second part of [Thor's] dream and [Marvel] was like, 'Well that doesn't work and we don't want to introduce Loki this late."

Whedon had previously noted that "Avengers: Age of Ultron" had been a tiring experience for him and as a result he decided not to direct the upcoming third and fourth installments. "Age of Ultron" obtained mixed reviews and also did not surpass box office expectations as most had expected. However, it has become a global phenomenon and will likely hit the $1 billion mark by the end of its run.

The movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen.
