‘Outlander’ Season 1 Episode 14 Spoilers: Claire Uses Unorthodox Methods on Redcoat in Search of Jamie
Although last week's episode was by far a surprising twist in the series, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) has proven that she is no ordinary woman, who can rise to the difficult tasks laid out before her when the time calls for desperate measures.
According to Enstars, in Episode 14, which is titled "The Search" and airs on Starz May 9 at 9 p.m., Jenny (Laura Donnelly) and Claire have ventured out to find her husband Jamie (Sam Heughan), who was captured by the Redcoats in the previous episode. He had taken up with the men of the Watch after confessing to them that he had a price on his head, following the Horrocks (Redcoat deserter) blackmail, and joined their raid on the Redcoats.
Now that he has been captured though, Claire finds that his life is in much more immediate peril than others and she will use any means necessary to get him back. This means that she will turn a pistol on a wayward Redcoat in hopes of extracting reliable information as to where Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) has taken him.
She will be accompanied by Jamie's older sister Jenny, who also finds his capture unbearable. Ultimately though, it will be Jenny who moves to torture the soldier by burning his feet to get him to talk. But that was hardly surprising considering the amount of strength Jenny displayed in the previous episode, "The Watch," which included her giving birth during the raid.
"This is -- it's a huge shift and the wonderful thing about it is that you see Claire and Jenny get to -- it's almost like they go on a female Western. They get to be the rescuers and I love that that's being flipped. ... It's really fun, fun stuff," Balfe told Access Hollywood. "Laura [Donnelly] and I were running around on our horses with our guns. It was just so much fun."
