Mariah Carey's opening act in Las Vegas tantalized fans and has earned the singer great reviews, despite some questions over her singing abilities.

People reports, on the night the 45-year-old "Hero" crooner started her residency at Caesars Palace, she immediately and emphatically silenced of her doubters who wondered if she still got it.

Carey dazzled with a range of notes so spellbinding by the end of the night she was feeling confident enough to make jokes at her own expense.

"I'm doing my best to be a diva this evening," she joked, as she blazed through a repertoire of all 18 of her No. 1 hits, plus the recently released "Infinity."

The magazine adds it was all the Mariah any fan could want and then some, with the night featuring at least six wardrobe changes over less than a two-hour session.

Indeed, if just for a night, Carey seemed to be in all her glory, with her troubles far, far behind her. Currently, she and estranged husband Nick Cannon are in the midst of a divorce that also has them battling over custody rights of their twin children.

According to TMZ, the 34-year-old "America's Got Talent" star filed for divorce from his wife of six years right around the New Year. Rumors are the two had been separated and living apart for at least six months before Cannon formally filed.

Since their split, Cannon has been romantically linked to Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Jessica White, with the two recently being spotted together at an Atlantic City party he was DJing at the Borgata Hotel. Cannon was also briefly rumored to be dating Amber Rose, though both publicly denied the reports and insisted he was only serving as her manager.

More recently, Carey has been seen with film director Brett Ratner after the two vacationed together on a yacht in France.
