Fox TV News: Network Orders New ‘Frankenstein’ Drama Series
Although this is not your ordinary Frankenstein tale, "The Frankenstein Code" will be a new take on the life-after-death reincarnation.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the series, which will take place in modern times, features a newly revived man who in life was a morally corrupt cop. In the pilot, the character is a 70-year-old retired cop. After he dies he is brought back to life (no details as to how or why) and now he is a much younger man.
It is presumed that since Rob Kazinski, who previously played a role on "True Blood," is playing the part of Jimmy Pritchard (Frankenstein), the operation which resurrected him only took his brain and not his body. Kazinski is a much younger, handsomer and quite fit man who looks like he could go a few rounds in the MMA arena with no trouble.
The series will likely delve into the new attitude he will be taking toward life. Either he can revisit his old themes of being a crooked cop or he is going to fight to help the innocent, kind of like a superhero incarnate.
If this series takes the original premise, then Pritchard will presumably have superhuman strength. If that strength is matched with honor, then he will have abandoned the ways of his previous life and become a superhero. If not, then the series could be solely focused on the villain and each episode could feature a new guest star hero.
Supernatural TV shows are the current trend these days, with themes regularly invading TV shows, film and even young adult books.
According to HitFix, this is also going to add to a list of supernatural shows premiering on Fox next year, which includes the "X-Files" reboot and "Scream Queens" (which will also be a comedy). We will know more about Fox's 2015 fall lineup when they announce their full schedule this Monday, May 11.
