Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid have officially broken up.

Hadid's representative already confirmed to the press that the fashion model and Simpson decided to end their relationship after two years of dating.

"Cody and Gigi want each other to be in a place right now that allows him to only focus on his music, fans, and new message, while she can focus and continue building her career," Hadid's rep told E! Online. "They love each other dearly and have split up in hopes that growing on their paths will bring them together in the future."

According to Simpson, they first drifted apart last May due to their hectic schedules. Despite their "stressful" jet-setting schedules, the "Pretty Brown Eyes" singer was focused on "making it work" with Hadid.

"We see each other a lot more than you would expect because we are, sort of, dedicated to making it work," Simpson said, according to Mirror. "We try to stay, like, out of the spotlight, but it is hard because she is a model. So, she is getting photos taken all of the time, and stuff like that. We like to just try to stay low key. I am not a massive fan of having my photo taken and stuff."

Although it has been widely reported that the reason of the breakup were their schedules, Hollywood Life is sure it was the singer's new song, "New Problems," that created issues in their relationship. Apparently, Simpson's song referred to his previous breakup with Hadid.

"Now that the song is out and getting more plays on the radio, it has brought back old memories," a source revealed. "She hears it all the time and people talk to her about the song which is not fun. It has really been a struggle for Gigi to wrap her head around and to think about." It looks like Simpson's new song will be famous as it allegedly ruined their relationship the second time around.

Simpson reportedly denied that the song was about Hadid. However, he eventually "came around and fessed up."

"He could not share his feelings to her normally by talking things out," said the insider. "It just leaves a bad taste in her mouth and was the catalyst of more petty problems that they did not clear up -- which led to more fights and an eventual breakup."
