As production for the third installment of the "Captain America" film begins in Atlanta, rumors regarding a surprise twist in the movie's plot have surfaced online.

In a new report by Heroic Headlines, a Tammy Smith casting call revealed that "Captain America: Civil War" will film what appears to be a funeral scene on May 12. "Civil War" -- running under the production title "Sputnik" -- is in need of different types of extras as it films in the Atlanta Metro area.

One type of extra listed is for "UPSCALE MEN AND WOMEN" from different ethnicities between the ages of 18 and 85.

"Men in dark suits and women in dark pants/ skirt suits and/or dark conservative dresses (women)," the call reads.

Also, according to the site's sources, the footage being filmed this week "may just be the most pivotal moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's history."

According to ComicBook.com, many comic book fans believe that the funeral is most likely for Steve Rogers. The publication details that in the comic book, Cap turns himself over to S.H.I.E.L.D. custody and is killed before his trial. The events then pave the way for Bucky Barnes, who is also know as the Winter Soldier, to become the new Captain America.

"Captain America: Civil War" Storyline

With regards to the movie's plot, Marvel has already revealed the official plot, which is found below:

"'Captain America: Civil War' picks up where "Avengers: Age of Ultron" left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain."

It is believed that the movie will center on the controversial Superhero Registration Act and see Captain America (Chris Evans) square off against Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), as they take opposite sides of the debate.

The most recent addition to the "Civil War" cast was "The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" star Martin Freeman. As reported earlier, the actor has been added to the cast in an undisclosed role. Comic book writer Mark Millar has hinted about the role of Freeman during an interview with Radio Times.

"The character is not a super-person, it's somebody who's... well, I don't want to spoil it for anybody but he's not going to be in costume," and added, "Once you get to see it, it's so obvious. All I'll say is, he's not [Captain America villain] the Red Skull."

Possibilities circulating online include Freeman playing a villain or possibly a government agent.

"Captain America: Civil War" will hit theaters on May 6, 2016. To date, no official trailer has been released.
