"Avengers 3: Infinity War" might feature the titular team of superheroes, but rumor has it that one particular Marvel character is going to take the center stage. Recent rumors might explain why Marvel has been so keen on bringing Spider-Man back into the mix.

Apparently, Spider-Man is the one who gets to prevent utter destruction from happening. According to Movie Pilot, Spidey will manage to take back the Infinity Gauntlet and use it to reverse time if the Infinity Wars comic books are to be followed. In doing so, he gets to undo the destructive things that Thanos did. As a result, only the web-slinger and Thanos will remember the event.

Before Peter Parker saves the day, however, Thanos levels New York and other major cities. As the "Infinity War" title suggests, the heroes will be in a no-holds-barred contest over the Infinity Gauntlet with the intergalactic villain and total chaos will ensue.

Thanos acquiring access to all the gems could only mean that he managed to kill The Vision in the process. He will most likely get God-like powers and defeat the Avengers if not for Spider-Man who manages to take the Gauntlet from Thanos.

Quicksilver might also return to "Avengers 3: Infinity War." Aaron Taylor Johnson recently hinted that he might return to reprise his role in the upcoming cosmic war.

"It was very much our intention to kind of go the way we did. There was a costume designed for whether... if I didn't [die]. Which was fucking really cool. I was like, 'Oh my God.' I am not sure if I can really go down that realm," Johnson told Cinema Blend. "But, you know, yeah. It was definitely an alternative that I think they had to play with. But, it was very much set from the very beginning and Joss hand in mind to tell the story that he told."

"Avengers 3: Infinity War" will be out in a two-part installment. The first one will be released in May 2018 while the second part will be unveiled in 2019. It will still feature common fan favorites, such as Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).
