'Dancing With The Stars' Season 20 Week 9 Recap: Noah Galloway Proposes on Show
The final four celebrity participants put on an impressive show on the floor during the semifinals of "Dancing With the Stars," Fox News noted. But when Army veteran Noah Galloway dropped to one knee on Monday night's show, his move was not dance-related.
"I've gotta do this here," the double amputee told his girlfriend, Army Reserve Spc. Jamie Boyd, and pulled out a diamond ring.
"I'm speechless," Boyd replied, and hostess Erin Andrews begged for clarification.
"Is that a yes?" Andrews wondered. "Heck, yes!" Boyd exploded as she jumped up and down and co-stars swamped the new fiancés with hugs and congratulations.
Before his proposal, Galloway had already won over the judges with a Viennese waltz USA Today called "elegant and beautiful." Len Goodman, the head of the jury, contended that the performance was Galloway's "best dance," and the veteran earned a solid 36 points.
A Viennese waltz was also what Rumer Willis had in store, and the dance "filled with fierce passion and romance" scored even higher at 38 points.
"I'm truly in awe because she makes it seem so effortless," noted Willis's mother, Demi Moore. "But I'm also proud of how hard she's worked. She has given 100 percent."
Riker Lynch, meanwhile, danced "a somber contemporary number filled with lifts and twirls," which judge Bruno Tonioli said was "difficult even for a professional to attempt." And beyond the jury's praise, it earned the pop star a perfect score of 40 points.
Nastia Liukin, finally, put on a quickstep that judge Carrie Ann Inaba called a "show stopper," USA Today noted. "We are blown away," said Liukin's mom, Anna, and so was the jury: The former Olympian took home another perfect score of 40 points.
As part of the "Judge's Choice" segment, all four participants had also been mentored by one of the judges for the week and showed off what they learned during yet another performance. Unsurprisingly, all four earned perfect scores of 30 points for their additional dances.
