Rumors say that Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are on the verge of splitting up after she was spotted without her wedding ring on, Entertainment Tonight reports.

Moving trucks were spotted outside of the couple's home in Los Angeles on Friday, adding fuel to the rumors since Joel was seen leaving the house by himself.

Yet, other sources say the couple was just moving to the same neighborhood as Joel's brother, Benji Madden, and his new wife, Cameron Diaz.

Richie and rock star Joel were first photographed together in 2007, according to Yahoo! Celebrity. They married in 2010 and have two children together.

Further proving that the two may not be headed for a split is Joel's Instagram post. He honored his reality star wife on Mother's Day via Instagram calling her his best friend.

"Happy Mother's Day to my best friend and partner in rhyme," he captioned the post. "Best wife, mother and friend a father and his kids could ever ask for." 

Richie has mentioned she felt she and Madden were great partners together in the past.

"From the second we found out we were going to be parents together, we looked at each other and we said, 'OK, both of our parents are divorced,'" she told Oprah in July.

"We both have had ups and downs with our parents and we don't really have a strong example of what a healthy family life is," she continued. "But, we're recognizing that now, so let's work at it and let's go through this together as a team."

RadarOnline reported that the couple is splitting up because they were last seen photographed together more than a month ago. Richie was spotted house hunting with no ring on her finger and no husband by her side.

Time will tell if the couple is truly breaking up.
