Video game developer Scott Cawthon recently confirmed "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" for an Oct. 31, 2015 release date.

In late April, he posted the first teaser image showing Freddy Fazbear with three mini versions on the home page. It sent fans into a frenzy of deciphering the hidden messages, and theorizing what animatronics will be included in the final game installment and more.

This week, Cawthon has given fans a new teaser image on his website. It appears to be Bonnie the Bunny, the rabbit animatronic, asking "Was it me?" If you brighten your screen, you will see a hidden message on the image that appears to say "nightmare."

In the game, Bonnie's starting location is the Show Stage where he stands with bandmates Freddy and Chica. Once activated, he will move to any room on the left side of the restaurant, except Pirate Cove. When looking into the security guard's office, he leans into the left doorway from the blind spot behind the door. He hunts humans at night to forcefully stuff them into a Freddy Fazbear suit, killing them.

As previously reported, the first teaser image resulted in rumors that Spring Freddy was the new and star animatronic in FNAF4. Now, it seems a new version of Bonnie -- with sharpened metal claws and teeth -- may have a role in the fourth game.

It seems Cawthon is hinting that Bonnie may have been the culprit in the Bite of '87, an incident that occurred at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in 1987 mentioned by the Phone Guy in the first game. The victim was bitten in the head, losing the frontal lobe in the process.

"Five Nights at Freddy's 4" Timeline

Considering the Scott Games website code was recently bombarded with the number 87, it's reasonable to assume that "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" will take place around the Bite of '87. It may be that gamers will see moments of 1987 during gameplay -- not the entire gameplay set in 1987.

The hidden word "nightmare" from the first teaser image gives another clue. Players may relive the nightmare of the Bite of '87 experienced by the victim during gameplay. If this is the case, the depiction of Freddy with mini heads in the teaser may not be the animatronic seen in "FNAF4," but rather, his horrific qualities as seen in the mind of the victim.

The number 1987 will surely be a part of the "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" timeline.
