During a recent interview with Seventeen, Justin Bieber weighed in on his former bad boy image that resulted in him facing some legal troubles.

Bieber, who recently turned 21 in March, admitted to going through a rebellious stage in his teens and becoming "cockier" and feeling as though he was entitled to do whatever he wanted due to his celebrity status.

Now that his rebellious phase is over, Bieber admits that he is "disappointed" in himself.

"You have to say, 'I'm sorry if I've let you down,' " Bieber said, adding, "I always want to be honest and let people know that those mistakes aren't who I am. Who I am is someone who really cares about people."

Since leaving his rebellious past behind, Bieber is now looking to be in a "healthy" relationship with someone he can marry, he revealed.

"In a girl, I want someone who's confident in herself and honest. I have to find her very attractive and as someone I can see myself with for the rest of my life," he said.

As for his friends and family, Bieber insists that he only plans to surround himself with positive people who will not judge him.

"I need healthy relationships with people I can feel safe with. People I can say whatever to, and I'm not going to be judged," he said.

Bieber's candid interview with Seventeen follows his Facebook apology to his fans regarding his past mistakes.

Following his interview with Ellen DeGeneres back in February, Bieber posted a Facebook video apology explaining that he was nervous while speaking to DeGeneres because of the embarrassment he felt over his previous actions.

"Just being young and growing up in this business is hard," he explained in the video. "Just growing up in general is hard. I want people to know how much I care about people. I'm not that person to say 'I don't give a f*ck.' I'm not that kid. I'm a person who genuinely cares."
