While many await the arrival of Apple's latest iOS sometime this year, the Cupertino-based firm released the beta version of iOS 8.4 in preparation for additional features and services that the company is reportedly set to unveil at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

The beta version with build name 12H4098c was released for testing on May 12. The new update brings with it a revamped Music application to the system," 9to5Mac reported.

Among the changes noticeable on the upgraded app are the addition of a Mini Player, 'Up Next' function and a sleek and vibrant overall design. It also introduced the latest version of iTunes Radio for those who prefer listening music from stations.

The latest Music App also brings with it a "Recently Added" section that displays the newly added songs and albums at the top of the list, Forbes noted.

Meanwhile, the "Up Next" feature is a great shortcut for people who prefer to skip songs minus the extra effort to press "stop" and look for the next song to play. In addition, the image quality of albums and artists on display on the Music app is now in high resolution, which gives it a vibrant display.

While the new app reportedly looks amazing, it is said to pave the way for the arrival of the new music streaming service Apple is cooking up for the brand.

A report in 9to5mac in March said that the Tim Cook-led firm plans to reveal the streaming service, which came out of the company's acquisition of Beats Music. The service, which will reportedly be unveiled in June, will bring "curated playlists and cloud-based libraries."

The new streaming service would go head-to-head with current favorites -- Spotify and Rdio -- and would cost less than what the two leading applications offer. It is rumored that the Apple Beats Music would be priced at $7.99 at most.

The release of the music streaming service was initially scheduled for the first quarter of 2015, but encountered some delays because of technical issues and resignations from key people. Recent tumors pointed to a June 8 launch for the Beats Music streaming service, alongside iOS 9 and OS X 10.11, at the WWDC 2015.
