“Legends of Tomorrow” will be premiering on The CW soon and its official synopsis has revealed that Rip Hunter will travel back in time in order to assemble the DC team of heroes. The time travel angle also points to the “immortal threat” that is responsible for sending him back to the past.

Comicbook.com has reported that “immortal threat” is going to be Vandal Savage. It was revealed during the Upfronts presentation of the network that Savage is going to be the first villain that the heroes will have to battle.

Vandal Savage is reportedly a cro-magnon being that became immortal after acquiring some powers from a strange meteor that fell from the sky. Apart from being immortal, his mind and body have also evolved, developing ahead of his caveman origins.

Although Savage sounds to be a very interesting antagonist, it must be noted, however, that his appearance on “Legends of Tomorrow” is actually not his first time on television. In “Smallville,” Dean Cain was part of one episode as Dr. Curtis Knox, but the character that he portrayed was very similar to Savage, down to the meteor strike.

Show runner Bryan Miller told Comic Book Resources that it was actually supposed to be Savage, but Warner Bros. requested to change the character’s name.

Moreover, Caity Lotz will also be part of “Legends of Tomorrow,” as she was recently cast to take on the role of White Canary or Sara Lance. The CW president Mark Pedowitz confirmed in an interview with TV Guide that she will be joining “Arrow” actress Katie Cassidy, who will be the Black Canary.

Lotz had already also confirmed the news to her fans and followers on Twitter. She shared the “Legends of Tomorrow” cast photo and captioned it with.

“Arrow” fans may be a bit confused with Sara’s involvement in the present-time group of heroes, since she had already died in a boat accident, whilst Oliver Queen, or Arrow, had survived, as pointed out by Variety. Fortunately, their questions were answered when the show launched its official trailer.

Fans can also expect a possible crossover between the three shows.

“DC’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ is part of the ‘Flash’ or ‘Arrow’ universe,” Pedowitz revealed during the teleconference call with the media. “Yes, they will live together as three shows."

“Legends of Tomorrow” is a DC storyline that focuses on a band of heroes and villains that unite in order to stop a great evil that wants to take down the planet and destroy the space-time continuum.
