It looks like Hollywood's favorite long-lasting "it" couple, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, are trying to work out their differences! 

Fox News is reporting that after some time apart -- time which included the couple taking off their wedding rings -- the longtime couple are sorting out their problems and trying their hand as a married couple again. The pair, who admitted they went through a rough patch this summer, were spotted "laughing and enjoying each other's company" at lunch this past weekend at Ocean Grill on the Upper West Side in Manhattan. Spies tells the New York Post the couple, who separated in August after 13 years of marriage, were with their daughter, Carys, 10. Witnesses said they were "really focused on her" during the meal but were also "laughing together."

Zeta-Jones, 44, and Douglas, 69, also reunited with their children, Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10, for some family fun over the weekend on Dec. 22. The family clan were spotted out and about in New York City for the first time since announcing their split back in August. This is the first sign hinting at a possible reconciliation since their separation. 

According to unconfirmed reports, Douglas has been going to Zeta-Jones's place for breakfast with his children when he's in Manhattan and dropping by in the evening to watch TV with them.

It's been a tough year for the couple. Zeta-Jones went into treatment for bipolar disorder in April, just before she and Douglas split. Then, the Wall Street star told the Guardian newspaper his throat cancer was HPV-related and came from performing oral sex. But in October, Douglas, wearing a wedding ring, said of his relationship with Zeta-Jones, "Things are great. Onward and upward," while promoting his movie Last Vegas.

Earlier, at the Emmys, he said he hoped they can save their marriage. "Catherine is great," he said. "She is doing wonderful, talked to her today [and] just got a lovely note from her ... I'm very hopeful that we're going to work things out ... We're just taking a break, a couple of issues, sometimes you got to do that." Zeta-Jones has also been spotted wearing her wedding ring. Neither has filed for divorce.
