The way things are going for Jussie Smollett and Bryshere "Yazz" Gray, they could soon be ruling over their own empire.

Already cast members of Fox's smash hit "Empire," the two showed off their musical chops Sunday night at the Billboard Music Awards, performing show hit tunes "Conqueror" and "You're So Beautiful" alongside series guest star Estelle.

According to Time, network execs view all the star's added exposure as not only an opportunity to get even more attention for the series, but also as a chance for the show to flex its muscle in terms of proving it can do more than just garner huge TV ratings.

The show already features noted producer Timbaland as one of its primary song writers. "Empire," starring Terrence Howard as Lucious Lyon and Taraji P. Henson as Cookie Lyon, has produced a hit soundtrack album. For Season 2, Ne-Yo has already signed on in a similar role.

Variety previously reported series creators recently announced they have also signed such heavyweights as Chris Rock, Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz for Season 2 guest-starring appearances. Last season's list of A-list guest stars included Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Gladys Knight.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly reports show co-creator Lee Daniels isn't about to rest on his laurels and is targeting the likes of Hollywood megastar Denzel Washington for at least a cameo.

"It's about his schedule," said Daniels. "I've got to lure him in with my fishhook, but he is really a great support of the show."

Beyond the aforementioned stars, Jennifer Hudson has also signed on for a three-episode appearance playing a music therapist and Patti LaBelle and Rita Ora as scheduled to appear as themselves.

The shows regular cast members also include Trai Byers (Andre Lyon), Kaitlin Doubleday (Rhonda Lyon) and Grace Gealey (Anika Calhoun).
