LG G4 Specs, Release Date & News: Model with Stylus and a Smaller Model Added to the Series
Two new LG G4 models are being added to the G4 series and one will include a stylus and a bigger screen, CNet reports. The two new models come less than a month after the LG G4 was introduced April 28.
Monday, LG introduced two new G4 models, the G4 Stylus and the G4c. Both devices will include the same features that the G4 have.
The G4 Stylus will have a slightly larger screen than the G4 with a 5.7-inch display. It will also come with a stylus allowing users to take notes or create drawings right on the screen.
The G4c will have a smaller screen with a 5-inch display and no stylus.
The two new phones are designed to be more budget-friendly than the original G4, Pocket Lint reports.
The G4 Stylus and G4c will include displays with less resolution than the original G4. The G4 offers a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 and displaying 538 pixels per inch (ppi). The G4 Stylus has a 5.7-inch screen with an HD display (not Quad HD) with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and displaying 258 ppi. The G4c has a 5-inch screen with an HD display (not Quad HD) capable of displaying 294 ppi.
The original G4 uses the powerful six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. To keep costs down, the G4 Stylus and G4c use a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor inside their devices.
The original G4 includes 3 GB of RAM, while the two new models only come with 1 GB of RAM. Storage in the original G4 starts off at 32 GB, while the new models only start off with 8 GB of storage. Thankfully, all three models have a microSD slot to expand their storage space.
"The G4 Stylus and G4c are perfect examples of what we mean by a premium smartphone experience without a premium price," said Juno Cho, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications, in a statement. "We are committed to offering consumers in fast-growing markets LG devices that not only deliver performance, but also look good while doing so."
LG wants to sell 8 million G4 smartphones this year and 12 million over its entire lifespan. LG is aiming to catch up to Apple and Samsung, both of who have had excellent first quarters in sales for their smartphones.
