'Scream Queens' Trailer: Fox Debuts Full Teaser; New Series Perfect Mix of Horror & Comedy
Fox just unveiled the official full trailer for its new series, "Scream Queens," and it has everything from comedy and intrigue to horror and gore. The bloody comedy created by Ryan Murphy is set to debut in the fall and based on the 3-minute long teaser, viewers now have a better idea of what the plot has in store.
The upcoming series puts hazing and pledging as well as campus murders at the forefront.
Roberts, playing the role of Kappa president Chanel Oberlin, is successful as a sassy and snobby sorority sister who actually says, "Good evening, idiot hookers," as she addresses the incoming batch of new pledges.
Chanel rules over her sisters and the Kappa House but all hell breaks lose when a campus killer begins to target Kappa ladies, reports Access Hollywood. The trailer reveals that the events leading up to the sorority deaths is actually rooted on a horrible death that took place within the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority house 20 years earlier.
In addition to dealing with the "revenge" taking place, the school's dean, Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis), has made the year infinitely more difficult as she imposes a new set of rules. "Kappa will be required to accept anyone who wants to become a pledge," says the dean to Chanel.
Unfortunately for Chanel, the newest pledges aren't exactly what she had in mind.
Murphy, who was the brains behind "Glee" and "American Horror Story," has given us a little bit of everything. Bloody-Disgusting notes that the show looks to be a hybrid that falls somewhere between "Scary Movie," "Greek" and "Scream."
The show's creator shared to Entertainment Weekly that the idea for the series was borne out of his obsession with the '80s/90s slasher genre. "It's sort of the idea of what would happen if you put something like Heathers meets Friday the 13th to those genre pictures like Massacre on Sorority Row, that early-to-late '80s exploitation horror thing," he explained.
Offering more information about the killer in the devil's mask, "Yeah. Wallace University's mascot is the Red Devil. So somebody has stolen the Red Devil costume and that's what he or she wears when they commit the crimes. We spent five months working on the prototype for that devil outfit. I'm really happy with it. He or she uses everything [as weapons]."
"Scream Queens" debuts this fall and stars Curtis, Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Nasim Pedrad, Oliver Hudson, Skyler Samuels, Keke Palmer and Diego Boneta. The trailer also offers sneak peeks ofappearances by Nick Jonas and Ariana Grande.
