Fans of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 are eager to see what's next for the popular video game. While details about the gameplay have been scarce, a recent blog post from DICE's design director Niklas Fegraeus has revealed that a new fighting mode is arriving in the upcoming title that would surely delight dogfighting fans.

Amidst all clamor for more details on the upcoming game, Fegraeus decided to answer all these concerns via an open letter he posted on the Star Wars blog post. In the note, he revealed new features and modules players of the game would be able to access to fully enjoy the upcoming title.

Although not that obvious in the recent gameplay trailer, the design director noted that a new mode called "Fighter Squadron" has been added for the game's loyal dogfighting fans. He described the new module as "huge Starfighter battles over canyons big enough to be truly epic."

The new mode comes in as the designer confirmed that no space battles would be happening in the upcoming title. However, the "Fighter Squadron" mode would be exciting enough even if it's set on the atmosphere only.

Speaking to PC Gamer, DICE Producer Craig Mcleod said that the development team decided to "focus on epic planetary battles for the game" and as such the dogfights would be set on the four maps included in Star Wars: Battlefront 3, which are Hoth, Endor, Tatooine and Sullust.

Fans looking for a smaller-scale challenge could take advantage of the Missions mode included in the new title. This mode is good for a single player or even a group of friends for a cooperative style.

The changes in the gameplay modes available in the upcoming title could be attributed to the approach the development team in DICE has decided to take.

According to Fegraeus, the new title is a reboot of the first two games as opposed to being a direct sequel. The reason for doing so is to "pay homage to this beloved ranches, while making our own stamp for a new generation."

The design director added that they took inspiration from the previous titles' "foundations" so they could add their own stamp of features and styles to the game.

More gameplay details for the game are set to be unveiled at the E3 event on June 15 at Los Angeles. Star Wars: Battlefront 3 would be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 17.
