Just like with games such as NBA 2K14 or GTA 5, connection woes have proved to be the biggest turnoff for first person shooting gamers as well.

Many people have been giving Call of Duty: Ghosts better ratings and this could have something to do with the many complaints about connections and lag problems with gameplay that have plagued its counterpart, Battlefield 4.

In a Call of Duty game review for IGN, Scott Lowe also made note of the slower gameplay in Battlefield and seemed to believe that the extra effects in BF4 were unnecessary.

"There's also the much-touted map dynamicism, which disrupts pathways and sightlines using everything from player-triggered gates to a missile strike that turns the environment to a smoldering wasteland," he said. "The effect is less impactful and cinematic than Battlefield 4's crumbling buildings and dams, but with considerably smaller maps and faster-paced gameplay, grander scale or frequency would have been distracting."

On the contrary, Matt Liebl at Game Zone quickly dismissed the connection problems in the Battlefield 4 game because he said he found it to be more enjoyable than Call of Duty: Ghosts.

"... the funny thing is I'd still take a buggy Battlefield 4 over it. The overall feel of the game is just that much more enjoyable. Maybe I've changed as a gamer, but I enjoy the larger maps opposed to the smaller run-and-gun style of Ghosts. I like the addition of vehicles; it adds an entirely different layer to the gameplay. The amount of vehicles can sometimes get a bit overwhelming, but the various classes and weapon-types to counter these vehicles creates a complexity in the gameplay that I enjoy -- almost like a chess match between two teams."
