Juan Manuel Marquez is reportedly determined to fight, and his promoter revealed the Mexican boxing icon is eyeing a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions said that Marquez has been dealing with knee issues over the past several months. Beltran added, though, that the 41-year-old Mexican is undergoing rehab in the hopes of fighting for the world welterweight title before officially hanging up his gloves.

Marquez, who has not fought since scoring a unanimous decision win against Mike Alvarado in May last year, previously made it no secret that he wants a fifth title in as many division before ending his career.

"Right now we are looking for an opponent," Beltran told ESPN Deportes via BoxingScene. "He will continue with his rehabilitation, but if he feels one hundred percent -- we already have a range of offers, mainly aiming at the world welterweight title which he and his team have long been targeting."

Beltran said that Marquez is considering facing International Boxing Federation welterweight champion Kell Brook, who is set to defend his title against Frankie Gavin on May 30 at the O2 Arena in London.

However, Beltran insisted that Mayweather is still on top of their list because Marquez wants to avenge his humiliating loss to the reigning pound-for-pound king in September 2009.

Mayweather, who recently defeated Manny Pacquiao, ran away with a unanimous decision win against Marquez, but Beltran thinks a rematch will be a different story because Marquez is now bigger than he was almost six years ago.

"Obviously we would love to fight with Mayweather because while they fought each other already, it took place under very adverse conditions and now things would be different," Beltran said. "But there is also a good chance that we will face Brook, who is looking for a big fight in the United States. There are a number of options at the weight."

Mayweather, who holds a perfect 48-0 record with 26 knockouts, recently hinted that his next fight in September could be the last of his illustrious career.

The 38-year-old world champion is being linked to a rematch with Pacquiao, but the Filipino boxing icon will not be able to fight in September because he is still recovering from a surgery that repaired a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, which he reportedly sustained before the Cinco de Mayo weekend showdown in Las Vegas.
