Sharon Osbourne Set to Take Month Off From 'The Talk' to Recover From Exhaustion
Just days after collapsing in her home city of Los Angeles, Sharon Osbourne announced this week she will be taking a month-long hiatus from her "The Talk" show responsibilities.
In an official statement released to People, Osbourne added she will use the time off to recover from the exhaustion she now suffers from. Reps for her indicate she had just returned to LA from a busy trip to New York and Toronto when the strains of all the "mental and physical fatigue" she's been undergoing began to rear its head and take its toll.
Clinically speaking, doctors now report the 62-year-old is suffering from "extreme exhaustion" and surmise she may have returned to work too soon following a bout with pneumonia earlier this year.
Over that time, her daughter, Kelly, primarily sat in for her on "The Talk," telling viewers her mom had come with pneumonia after having hernia surgery.
"Sharon has been advised and has agreed to take a month hiatus to recover fully from these recent events," her rep said. "Sharon would like to thank everyone at 'The Talk' for granting her this time off and to all friends, family and others for their incredible support."
The wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne battled colorectal cancer in 2002 and three years later underwent a double mastectomy after discovering she carried the gene that predisposed her to breast cancer.
Radar reported back in 2012, Osbourne revealed she had the "colon, breast and ovarian cancer genes." Osbourne told radio talk show host Howard Stern she spent up to $250,000 in DNA testing to learn she was suffering from all those predispositions.
"The scientist wanted to see how Ozzy had lived so long despite the drink and drugs," she said of the Black Sabbath singer. "I said he would do it, and they said, 'We are doing you too.'"
In previous interviews, Osbourne has stressed that undergoing the double mastectomy was a "no brainer." Now, she admits she has come to have an appreciation for new, rebuilt boobs.
"I had my entire breasts cut off and they rebuilt them," she told Stern. "They look very small and perky, like they belong on somebody else but me. I have only got one nipple but I am going to have the other done."
She later added, "I am so busy and now it looks like my t*ts wink at my husband every morning."
