Lindsay's life will unravel in the next season of "Chicago P.D." after hitting rock bottom in the Season 2 finale following Nadia's death.

"Everybody's still reeling and dealing in their own way with the death of Nadia," Jason Beghe tells E! News. "And we all have our own ways of coping. Lindsay's having the hardest time and that's kind of what we're looking at-she's starting to hit the bottle it's looking like."

Lindsay, who is portrayed by Sophia Bush, decides to quit her job in the Season 2 finale leaving viewers to wonder what will happen to her character in the next season.

"That kind of breakdown of your psyche is the thing that I'm looking forward to delving further into as the season picks up. We're a little bit unsure as to what the time jump will be," Bush tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Showrunners are still figuring out what to do with Lindsay.

"How far has Lindsay gone? Where will we find her?" Bush said of possible scenarios.

"There's a part of me that would like for us to pick up the day after she quits and see what happens," Bush added. "Hopefully it will take a couple of episodes for her to want to go back."

Lindsay was one of P.D.'s strongest characters given where she came from. She made it out of a bad situation and wanted her friend Nadia to do the same. At this point, she feels Nadia would be alive if Lindsay never interfered in her life.

"I think she's going to have a lot to deal with when the next season of the show picks up and we'll have to figure out how to tap back into her strengths," Bush said of Lindsay.

"Chicago P.D." will be back on NBC in the fall for Season 3.
