Samsung Galaxy S6 vs LG G4: Two of the Latest Smartphones Compared
Two of the best Android smartphones are currently out on the market, and it is up to the buyer to decide which is best for them. The LG G4 has a large screen and an excellent camera, while the Samsung S6 has the smaller screen but a much thinner profile, according to Gizmag.
Comparing the two phones, the LG G4 is the larger device, more of a phablet style phone. The Samsung S6 has a smaller screen and size and is very similar to the iPhone 6.
The 5.5-inch screen on the G4 has a resolution of 2560 x 1440 displaying 538 pixels per inch. The 5.1-inch screen on the S6 has the same 2560 x 1440 resolution but displays 577 ppi. Both screens are Quad HD displays.
The G4 also weighs slightly more than the S6. The G4 weighs in at 155g compared to the S6 weight of 138g.
The G4 gives customers the choice to add a premium back to it with leather cases in various colors. If customers pass on the leather case, the back of the device is plastic. The S6 is Samsung's first fully premium smartphone with glass backs and aluminum sides.
The G4 has a slightly curved display that makes it more comfortable to hold. The Galaxy S6 does not offer a curved display; however the Galaxy S6 Edge does have the curved display.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 followed Apple by including a finger print sensor on the home button. The sensor is said to be just as responsive as Apple's Touch ID. The LG G4 does not offer any finger print sensors on its device.
The G4 is only offered in one storage size, 32 GB. However, if users want to add more storage, they can add up to 128 GB of storage with a microSDcard thanks to the microSD slot offered in the G4. The S6 comes in three different storage choices, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. There is no microSD slot to add more storage.
The G4 decided to use the six-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. The S6 went away from Qualcomm processors and instead built its own octa-core Exynos 7420 processor.
An advantage of the G4 is the removable battery. The G4 also uses a bigger 3,000 mAh battery, while the S6 uses a 2,550 mAh battery. With the bigger screen, LG's battery might not last as long as Samsung's though.
The S6 offers fast charging and wireless charging, two features that the G4 does not offer.
The G4 has an excellent 16 megapixel (MP) camera with a wide f/1.8 aperture. LG is emphasizing its wide aperture as the best offered in a smartphone, according to The Verge. The S6 has the same 16 MP camera and an aperture of f/1.9.
The two phones are very similar, but the G4 will take better pictures, especially in low light. The smaller size of the S6 will make it easier to hold and operate with one hand.
