Game developer Scott Cawthon recently gave fans a third "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" image teaser of Nightmare Chica and the cupcake. Since Cawthon posted the image, more theories have risen about the story, timeline and gameplay of "Five Nights at Freddy's 4."

"Five Nights at Freddy's 4" Teaser Images and 1987 Theory

A popular theory among "Five Nights at Freddy's" players is that Cawthon is timing his teaser releases to coincide with the year 1987. Nightmare Bonnie's image appeared 10 days after the Nightmare Freddy teaser was posted. Nine days after Nightmare Bonnie, Nightmare Chica appeared.

The number of days that separated the appearance of the images does seem to be 19. That being said, many fans speculated that another teaser would arrive eight days from when Nightmare Chica was posted, which would have been Sunday, May 24. Since that did not happen, fans must wait and see if "87" will eventually be produced somehow.

The Number 10 in the Balloon Boy Image

The Balloon Boy teaser might also have something to do with 1987. The image features a hidden number 10 that has not been explained. Many fans believe Cawthon used the number 10 to tease the month of October for the "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" release date.

If the mentioned 1987 number pattern is legitimate, the seven-day teaser should be posted on May 31. The numbers 10 and 31 reveal the "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" release date of Oct. 31.

Who Are the Final Five Nights at Freddy's 4 Two Characters?

Rumors are already swirling about what animatronics will be the final two characters to complete 1987, if the pattern holds true. Nightmare Foxy should be the next, but which nightmare animatronic will be the final? Could it be the Puppet or Golden Freddy?

In "Five Nights at Freddy's 2," the Puppet was responsible for causing several events. The Puppet is an antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's 2. It is located in the Prize Corner, which it will only exit if the Music Box's music stops. Once the Puppet begins its attack, even if the Music Box is wound after it has left the Prize Corner, it will still make a beeline for The Office and attack the security guard in a manner similar to Foxy. There is no way to stop the Puppet once it has begun its approach. The player will be killed even if he is wearing the Freddy Fazbear Head -- the only way to survive is making it to 6 a.m.

"I'll be honest, I never liked that puppet thing. It was always...thinking, and it can go anywhere," the Phone Guy said, describing The Puppet in Night 2.

Setting the AI difficulty values to 1-9-8-7 in the original "Five Nights at Freddy's" causes a Golden Freddy jump scare, which may be enough to nominate this character for "FNAF4."

Lastly, YouTube user 8-BitGaming has posted a video with a theory that the new nightmarish animatronics we have seen could be involved in a Halloween-themed party in FNAF4. According to their theory, the nightmare animatronics are reconstructed versions of the "FNAF3" mini game animatronics. Watch the video to learn more.
