Minnesota Viking coach Mike Zimmer gave Adrian Peterson an ultimatum on Wednesday, Star Tribune reported.

Peterson reportedly missed the second organized team activities on Wednesday. He was also the only Vikings member not present on their training facility. Zimmer said that Peterson has two choices -- either to play or not play at all.

The coach was asked in a press conference if he was concerned about Peterson's absence among all the rest of the Vikings who attended the OTA."No, I'm not concerned," Zimmer replied.

The coach also denied that the running back already told him of his intention of not showing up in the OTAs a week before hand. The coach even revealed that he had not even talked to Peterson for quite a while.

"That is completely false. So I know there are a lot of things that are out there. I don't know when he's coming. And so we'll just leave it at that," Zimmer said.

The coach also stressed that he has the rest to train. "You all have jobs to do and I understand. So it's more about, he has missed a lot of OTAs over the course of his career. I'm not worried about it. I got 89 guys out here that I'm coaching and trying to get better. So it is what it is," he added.

When the coach was asked if Peterson had put the Vikings in a bad light by not speaking to the team about his plans, the coach gave a strong statement. Zimmer said that if the former NFL Most Valuable Player wants to play in the upcoming season, he has to do it in Minnesota because they have no plans to trade him before the start of the season.

"It's really not my place to figure out what he's not saying publicly or what anybody else is saying," Zimmer said. "It's more about, really, these guys who are out here. Adrian, he's really got two choices. He can either play for us or he cannot play. He's not going to play for anybody else. That's just the way it's going to be."

Zimmer's strong challenge immediately got a reply from the running back. Peterson issued a statement though ESPN's Josina Anderson, saying: "The reason I'm not attending OTA's has nothing to do with wanting to be traded. It's about securing my future with the Vikings. It's business, not personal and I understand that firsthand. Go Vikings."

Anderson posted Peterson's statement on her Twitter account.

ESPN noted that Peterson still has bitterness over how Vikings treated him after he was indicted due to misdemeanor charges of reckless injury in September. In February, Peterson admitted that he was "still uneasy" of getting back to Vikings because he felt his team did not provide enough support for him.
