Jenni Rivera Death: Pedro Rivera to Release Duet Recorded Before Late Singer Became Famous
Pedro Rivera's new album will contain a song he recorded years ago with Jenni, years before his daughter embarked on her own successful career, El Universal reported.
The duet, titled "Un día a la vez," features the original orchestration from the time when it was taped, Rivera told the newspaper. Fans will be able to hear it on the musician's new album, "Pedro Rivera con Mariachi" which is set to go on sale in the next few weeks.
"It is nice for me to once again listen to these recordings, which we did when (Jenni) was not even thinking about being famous yet," Rivera said.
Jenni began her own solo career in 1992. The singer's 10th studio album, titled "Jenni," was the No.1 record on the Billboard Top Latin Albums charts in the United States in 2008. The young star, who was married three times and had five children -- Janney, Jacqueline, Michael, Jenicka and Johnny -- was killed in a plane crash near Iturbide, in Mexico's Nuevo León state, on Dec. 9, 2012.
Among the tributes to the popular artist were a dedicated ceremony of the 25th anniversary of the Premios Lo Nuestro; seven posthumous recognitions at the 2013 Latin Billboard Music Awards; an exhibition at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles; and a proposal to name a Long Beach, California, city park after her.
Pedro Rivera, for his part, plans to further honor his daughter with yet another studio album, which will feature songs the two recorded around 1994, El Universal noted. The singer said he was already in the midst of preparations for the project.
The songs on the album "were recorded before she went all out as a musician and the public got to know her," Rivera explained.
"I decided it that way, I think it is the best; I want people to remember my daughter because she was a woman with a lot of charisma who knew how to move forward," the mariachi star added.
