Smartphone users who like to take self portraits of themselves with the front-facing camera have been mostly disappointed with poor picture quality. Until now.

The new Asus ZenFone Selfie has a 13 megapixel (MP) front-facing camera with a dual-LED flash specifically designed for users to take high-quality selfies, CNet reports.

The camera also has a built-in "Beautification" feature that will allow users to soften facial features, slim down their cheeks and enhance the color of their skin, in real time.

The front-facing camera has an apperture of f/2.2 and an 88-degree field of view. If that is not enough, the camera can be expanded to 140 degrees, allowing for group selfies.

To make selfies even easier, an optional kickstand can be added to the ZenFone Selfie that will allow hands-free selfie taking.

The ZenFone Selfie will be available in pink, white and blue and will have fashionable names like "chic pink."

The rear-facing camera has just as much quality as the front-facing camera. It is also 13 MP and comes with a dual-LED flash. Asus has added a laser auto-focus, which is the same technology that the new LG G4 smartphone uses.

Besides having excellent cameras, the ZenFone Selfie is also internally a powerful smartphone. It will utilize a Qualcomm 615 octa-core processor. Google's latest version of Android, Lollipop 5.1, will likely come pre-installed on the device.

The screen on the ZenFone Selfie will be nice and large at 5.5 inches. It will be a full-HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, but it will only display 403 pixels per inch. The screen will be protected by the ultra-protective Gorilla Glass 4 that will prevent scratches and cracks on the screen.

According to Android Central, the ZenFone Selfie is essentially a ZenFone 2, but with a focus on selfie-taking.

The smartphone was previewed at a press conference hosted by Asus. No release date or pricing information was released yet. It will likely have a similar price tag as the ZenPhone 2, which sells for $299.
