It seems Manchester United is determined to fix their problems on the defensive line with the signing of a new right back defender.

Several reports have claimed that Louis van Gaal has already set his eyes on FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves for next season once his contract with the Spanish club ends.

Rumors about the Brazilian's desire to leave Barca after the Champions League finals emerged when he revealed through a press conference that he felt "disrespected" by the Catalan club.

"I won't accept that they underestimate what I have given to this club, " the 31-year-old defender said, according to The Guardian. "They haven't given me the value I deserve."

During that time, Alves also expressed his desire to consider other clubs for his future. Many speculated that he is on his way to Old Trafford.

After failing to win a trophy this season, Manchester United is looking to upgrade its game and players for next year. To do this, Van Gaal has made the addition of defenders to his team a priority, wrote another report on The Guardian.

Alves, for all his experience in The Spanish Cup, Champions League, La Liga and World Cup, seems to be the best fit for the English Premier club's requirements.

The Brazilian won't have to adjust too much should he decide to move across the pond. Barcelona's passing game will be an advantage for Alves as he moves to help right-wing Antonio Valencia. The team was also hit hard with Rafael da Silva's injury.

When it comes to salary, the English club can easily match or even hand out more to the £120,000 a week rate Alves has with the La Liga champions.

Manchester United has yet to confirm the reports.

Aside from Van Gaal's team, it was reported that French champions, Paris Saint-Germain, is also interested to sign the defender.

But the club's coach does not think that Alves will move to his side.

"I do not think so anyway. He is out of contract but his intention is to extend with Barca," PSG coach Laurent Blanc told BeIN Sports.

The coach believes that Alves still wants to continue with Barcelona despite his comments.

"It is a game he is playing with his club, he's awaiting their proposal. It's nice for the press to have something to talk about, but there has been no contact that I know of," added Blanc.
