Motorola Moto X vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4: Large Note 4 Competes With Traditional-Sized Moto X
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Motorola Moto X were two popular smartphones that came into the market in late 2014. Each smartphone has its distinct advantages, according to GizMag.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is a phablet-sized smartphone that has a bigger screen and is longer and wider than the Motorola Moto X. Still, the Note 4 is actually 14 percent thinner than the Moto X.
The Note 4 has a big screen, measuring in at 5.7 inches. The Moto X has a 5.2 inch screen, which makes one-handed operation much easier. The screen quality on the Note 4 is 2560 x 1440, displaying 515 pixels per inch, while the Moto X screen resolution is just 1920 x 1080, displaying 432 ppi.
The Moto X offers an Active Display. This means when the display is turned off and a notification is received, it will pop up on the screen and only use the pixels necessary to display the notification. This is a convenient way to see notifications without having to power on the device. The Note 4 does not offer an Active Display solution.
The Note 4 includes a stylus pen to allow users to scribble notes and drawings directly on the screen. The phone's stylus is twice as sensitive than the Note 3's stylus.
The Moto X offers a unique twist-to-use camera. This allows the camera to be launched with a simple twist back and forth of the phone.
Most recent smartphones have a fingerprint sensor built in. The Note 4 has a sensor built right into the home button and requires a simple swipe across to be activated. It is a little surprising that the Moto X does not have a fingerprint sensor.
Both smartphones use a quad-core processor. The Note 4 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, while the Moto X uses the older Snapdragon 801 processor. Both processors are fast and capable of running the software and apps for these phones.
The Note 4 has 3 GB of RAM, while the Moto X offers 2 GB of RAM. This helps the Note 4 multitask using the split-screen multitasking feature that it offers. The split-screen feature allows two apps to be running at the same time.
Since the Note 4 has the bigger and sharper screen, it requires a 3,220 mAh battery. The Moto X uses a much smaller 2,300 mAh battery.
Both phones started with expensive price tags. At full-retail, the Note 4 was sold for $700, while the Moto X was sold for $500. By signing a contract, the Note 4 could be purchased for $300 and the Moto X for just $100.
