Godzilla is back after a decade. But more than excitement, movie critics are more concerned that the new big budget film could actually flop the box office.

Silicon Angle has made a doomsday prediction of the fate of the big budget movie, 'Godzilla.' The new installment of 'Godzilla' hits theaters May 16 of this year and stars Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen.

Budget for the Gareth Edwards film is a whooping $160 million and something that the movies' sales should be able to surpass.

But the site has referred to the 'Godzilla' character as 'box office poison' in that the last installments of the movie all flopped the box office.

'Godzilla: The Final Wars', released in December 4 year 2004 was the last movie made of the monstrous character. The movie was made partly for the character's 50th anniversary and it was even dubbed as the 50th anniversary commemoration project.

According to IMDb, the film ran costs amounting to 4 billion yen but still flopped the box office. The film was the last of many things for Godzilla - the last time Toho's big pool water tank was used to film water scenes, the last time the original actors were casted onto their roles and the last everyone saw of the monster, or so everyone thought.

"That installment cost $20M and made $12M in Japan, and had the lowest admission numbers for a Godzilla movie in nearly 30 years," said Silicon Angle.

Godzilla 2014 is also at high risk of being pushed to the side with big franchises like Spiderman 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past threatening its launch date. Spidey will be ahead of Godzilla while the whole X-Men team will follow in terms of release dates.

All of these factors could make 'Godzilla 2014' an ultimate flop in the box office but no one ever knows what a decade's worth of rest will bring to the monstrous character.
