French Open 2015 Schedule & Live Stream: Rafael Nadal vs Novak Djokovic, Serena Williams vs Sara Errani in Day 11
It seems that the rivalry between world No. 1 Novak Djokovic and French Open defending champion Rafael Nadal is not going away anytime soon. The Serbian will look to end the Spaniard's quest to reach the finals and defend his title in a quarterfinals match set in Day 11 of the 2015 French Open.
The match is an interesting one as both are looking to add more accolades to their name on the history books with Nadal looking to clinch his 10th title in the competition, while Djokovic has his eyes set on a career Grand Slam.
It will be the 44th time the 28-year-old Serbian will go up against the world's No. 7 with seven out of that in the French Open, reported BBC Sport. The Spanish tennis superstar has dominated the rivalry, but Djokovic is determined to do everything he can to remain on his way to the finals at Roland Garros.
"Of course it is a fifferent approach metally when you play Nadal in quarterfinals than any other player. There is no doubt about that," said Djokovic to Steve G Tennis. "I'm going to try to keep my routine the same and not give so much importance to the match."
He added, "I know what I need to do to have a chance to win. That doesn't mean that I will win. The future is unpredictable."
Nadal on the other hand, seemed to be taking things one match at a time and not putting too much focus on the finals just yet.
"It is not the final, you know. It's a quarterfinal. And no, the winner of that match will not be the Roland Garros champion," said the player who will his 29th birthday on Wednesday. "They will be a semifinalist of Roland Garros. That makes a big differenc. Even if its' a special match, it's a quarterfinal match."
Meanwhile, world No. 1 Serena Williams will meet Sara Errani in a quarterfinals match. The match is not the first time Williams and Errani will meet this year. The duo already played against each other in a Fed Cup match last April, noted USA Today. Errani gave Williams a tough time, but the No. 1 seed prevailed with 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.
"I'm glad I played that match because now I kind of know what to expect," Williams said when asked about her match against the Italian. "I'm going to be ready for that, and I look forward to it."
