Wednesday’s Powerball is here. And since no one won the grand prize last Sunday when the winning numbers were: 8, 9, 25, 56 and 57, and the Powerball was 22, all that money has once again rolled over and is now at $188 million, with a cash value of $119.4 million.

There were 598,055 regular Powerball winners and $10,697,121 in non-jackpot money was won.

There are actually nine ways to win at Powerball. Players have a 1 in 175,223,510.00 chance of getting the Grand Prize, and a 1 in 5,153,632.65 of winning $1,000,000.

So the chances of winning the big money are small but people actually win. And an even smaller number people sometimes even lie about winning.

A Pennsylvanian woman named Shelly Lynn Walters has just been charged with lying to state police about buying a $2 million Powerball ticket which she said had been stolen from her.

As reported by PennLive, Walters told investigators that she had purchased the winning ticket on Feb. 14 at the Unity Food Mart in Muncy. Police said that matters in the case were complicated due to the fact that a winning $2 million ticket was indeed sold at the store on Feb. 11.

The 51-year-old told police the ticket was stolen by a 27-year-old man from a bag she had put it in on Feb. 20.

Video evidence later revealed that Walters never in fact purchased a ticket at the time the winning ticket was sold. Police said that the would be lottery swindler later admitted to investigators that she had lied about the ticket, and on May 28 was charged with making false reports to authorities.

In the meantime, the true Powerball winner has come forward and claimed the prize.
