French Open 2015 Semifinals Schedule & Live Stream: Serena Williams vs Timea Bacsinszky, Ana Ivanovic vs Lucie Safarova in Day 12
Serena Williams will continue her quest for her third French Open title when she faces Swiss player Timea Bacsinzky in a semifinals match in Day 12 of the 2015 French Open in Paris.
It didn't take long for the world's No. 1 to finish off Sara Errani and book a spot in the semifinals. The 33-year-old won 6-1, 6-3 against the Italian in a match that lasted approximately 65 minutes.
The 34 Grand Slam title holder expressed disbelief that she was able to cruise past the quarterfinals even with many fans placing their odds on her.
"I'm not putting too much pressure on myself," said Williams to BBC Sport. I'm surprised I'm still in the tournament, so this is really cool for me."
Bacsinzky, on the other hand, is a neophyte when it comes to Grand Slams, as this is the first time the 25-year-old has reached the semifinal round of any Majors.
The No. 23 seed almost gave up on tennis two years ago to pursue a career in the hotel industry. But she returned to the sport and is now slowly making waves in the tennis world. The former hotel management student is keeping her eye focused on the game and not on her opponent.
"For me, it doesn't matter who I'm going to be playing against," said Bacsinzky. "I just want to have one or two or three tactics and try to put them in the game."
Meanwhile, Ana Ivanovic is set to go against Lucie Safarova for a chance to get into the finals.
This is the second time the 27-year-old Serbian will be in a Grand Slam semifinals match since 2008, when she was successful in taking home the trophy.
But while Ivanovic is no stranger to the clay court and the French Open, she is not taking her match against Czech Safarova in stride. Safarova has been slowly making her way in the French Open with numerous upsets, including her win against Maria Sharapova in the fourth round.
"She's a great player. She showed that many times," said Ivanovic of Safarova to Live Tennis.
"So it's going to be a tough match-up for me. And I really want to focus on tomorrow," added the Serbian player.
The 28-year-old Safarova is also taking things one match at a time at the Roland Garros.
"Of course, I'm taking it step by step, so I'm looking for my next match," said the player. "She's a tough opponent, but it will be exciting."
