Latino Media Awards 2015 Date, Time & Nominees: Raquel Welch, Dascha Polanco and Eugenio Derbez to Be Honored
The 16th Annual Latino Media Awards will be held June 27 in Hollywood.
The National Association of Latino Independent Producers have announced that Raquel Welch, "Orange Is the New Black's" Dascha Polanco and Mexican TV star Eugenio Derbez will be honored at the show, Variety reported.
Welch will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is is given to artists who have had a profound effect on the entertainment industry and have been leaders for the arts and for Latinos.
"We are tremendously excited by the collective achievements of this year's honorees," NALIP Executive Director Axel Caballero said in a statement. "No one likes to use the word 'legend' lightly, but it only begins to describe Raquel Welch."
Polanco, who is of Dominican descent, is best known for her role as Dayanara Diaz on "Orange Is the New Black." She will receive the Lupe Award, which is awarded to Latino actors or producers who have generated a significant amount of buzz and have a great outlook as a future artist.
Derbez will receive the Oustanding Achievement Award.
Variety has called Derbez the No. 1 most influential Latino male in the world. The award honors Latino content producers or talent who have earned exceptional success in entertainment. Past recipients of this award include Sofia Vergara, Kenny Ortega and Salma Hayek.
Derbez's latest movie "Instructions Not Included" has become the most successful Spanish-language film ever in both the U.S. and worldwide.
Also scheduled to be honored are Roberto Llamas and Rick Ramirez. Llamas, the executive vice president for human resources and community empowerment at Univision Communications Inc., will receive the Media Advocacy Award. Ramirez, senior VP of targeted marketing for Warner Bros., will receive the Industry Pioneer Award.
