In "Aquarius" Episode 4 "Home is Where You're Happy," Sam Hodiak meets Charles Manson for the first time, the Karn family drama reaches a climax and Emma Karn is rescued from the compound, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Grace Karn arrives at Sam's home to tell him that Charlie called. She heard her daughter's voice in the recording. She knows Emma is still at the Spiral Staircase.

Sam drives to the compound and meets Charlie for the first time. Charlie kisses Sam's shoes in attempt to gain his favor. Sam's response is an exasperated: "For Pete's sake, what the f--?"

Sam Hodiak is one man Charlie Manson will never be able to break.

Sam explains to Charlie that he's looking for Emma. He gives Charlie his business card and follows him to Rue Fisher's house, but Rue has already made Emma and Sadie leave. He tells Sam the girls "just wanted food."

Meanwhile, Emma's father Ken Karn has sex with a strange man in public bathroom, which he later feels guilty and ashamed of. He shows up at the Spiral Staircase with a gun, accusing Charlie of making him homosexual. Emma watches as Charlie tells her dad that he does not care if he dies. He would be more than happy to die for anyone he loves. Ken and Emma make eye contact. Ken goes home and tells Grace that he saw Emma. He wants to return to the Spiral Staircase with Grace, but she "needs a man for this."

Grace, who is at her wits' end with her husband, knows the right man for the daring rescue: Sam.

Sam and Grace storm into Charlie's compound and rescue an intoxicated Emma from her captors.

In the remainder of the episode, Sam and Brian Shafe search for Art Gladner's real killer, Sam meets with a draft-dodging friend of Walt's, and Opal celebrates her birthday alone.

"Aquarius" airs on Thursdays on NBC at 9 p.m.
