Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus: A Bigger Galaxy S6 Could be Coming Soon
Another Samsung Galaxy S6 might be coming in the upcoming weeks. The next Galaxy S6 would have a larger 5.5-inch screen and be called the Galaxy S6 Plus, CNET reports.
The information first came from the Italian blog site HDBlog.it
The Galaxy S6 Plus would have the larger screen and other improvements from the original Galaxy S6.
Samsung is calling the new development Project Zero 2, formerly Project Zen, internally. The new smartphone would debut in the next few weeks.
Samsung released the Galaxy S5 in April 2014. In October, they followed it up with the Galaxy S5 Plus with a more powerful processor.
Rumors suggest that Samsung will not only make the Galaxy S6 Plus faster, but also give it a bigger screen. The company is aiming to cash in on the success of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, but also appeal to customers who want a larger screen.
Samsung is still expected to release a large screen Galaxy Note 5, but not until September at the IFA conference in Berlin.
HDBlog.it says the information it received is from "reliable sources," but still calls it a rumor.
The Galaxy S6 Plus would feature a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display. That's 0.4 inches larger than the displays on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. The Galaxy S6 Plus will also have curved edges on both sides of the screen, just like the Galaxy S6 Edge.
The Galaxy S6 Plus will use a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor. For storage, the Galaxy S6 Plus will have 32 GB of space. The cameras on the Galaxy S6 Plus will be 16 megapixel (MP) shooter in the rear and a 5 MP in the front.
Samsung is trying to release multiple devices each year, compared to Apple which only releases a new phone on an annual basis.
The smartphone website GSM Arena recently secured some leaked photographs that it says could be pictures of the upcoming Galaxy S6 Plus.
