More than four months after she was found face down and unresponsive in the bathtub of the Georgia home she shared with boyfriend Nick Gordon, the police investigation into the circumstances surrounding Bobbi Kristina Brown's condition remain ongoing.

People magazine reports Roswell chief of police Rusty Grant recently confirmed as much, informing reporters, "Criminal investigations remains active until a decision is made not to prosecute an individual(s) or a person is prosecuted, adjudicated and all appeals are exhausted."

The only daughter born to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown has never regained consciousness since being rushed to a hospital emergency room on Jan. 31. She is now being cared for an area rehabilitation facility.

"They are most likely waiting to see the outcome of whether or not she dies before bringing any charges," attorney Julie Rice recently speculated to the magazine about the probable status of the police investigation. She later added if police do have a suspect in mind, "they are probably monitoring that person at all times."

TMZ has previously reported police were initially targeting 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend Nick Gordon as their leading suspect after doctors also found several other unexplained bruises on her body.

Brown's family members have prohibited him from seeing her since she's been hospitalized and he was only recently released from a drug treatment rehab facility.

Sources indicate Bobby Brown has been adamant about not removing his daughter from the life support apparatus she is now hooked up to and is totally committed to keeping "hope alive."

Whitney Houston died more than three years ago when she too was found face down in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel where she was staying. Authorities have since revealed she had drugs in her system at the time of her death.
