Manchester United will return to the Champions League next season after finishing fourth in the 2014-15 Barclays Premier League.

While they have already secured a spot in the Champions League, star striker Robin van Persie thinks his club will have another spending spree this summer.

Van Persie told Manchester Evening News that United will likely spend £200 million again this summer to acquire their top targets, including Real Madrid stars Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, who are both being linked to a move out of Bernabeu.

Van Persie thinks manager Louis van Gaal won't hesitate to spend again in the hope of building a stronger roster next season. They secured a spot in the biggest club tournament in Europe, but only finished fourth in the Premier League -- 17 points behind league champions Chelsea.

Van Gaal spent £200 million last year to sign six players, including former Real Madrid midfielder Angel Di Maria. They also agreed to a one-year loan deal with AS Monaco for Colombian striker Radamel Falcao.

"United spent £200m on players last year and they are going to spend another £200m this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title," van Persie said.

The Red Devils are continuously being linked to a deal to acquire Bale from Manchester United, but the two sides are far from reaching an agreement. There is also ongoing talks about a deal that will send Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to Real Madrid, which could pave the way for Bale's transfer to Old Trafford.

According to ESPN FC, Manchester United will also make a strong push to acquire Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris if De Gea moves to Real Madrid before next season.

As for Van Persie's future at Old Trafford, it is still unclear at this point whether or not he will have a spot in the main rotation next season after netting just 10 goals in 27 Premier League appearances. Still, the 31-year-old Dutch is still optimistic that he will see a lot of action next season and will be ready to contribute in the Champions League.

"It is my ambition to play as many games as possible," the Netherlands international said. "I feel fitter than ever. And I know that the more games I play, the more it will help me prepare for the European Championships next summer. I will take everything into consideration when I decide on my future."
