Shayna Hubers' fate will be left up to a Cincinnati judge who is scheduled to hand down a prison sentence for the convicted boyfriend killer later this month.

During her trial, prosecutors said the 24-year-old woman shot and killed her 29-year-old boyfriend Ryan Carter Poston in October 2012 when she was just 21 years old because he wanted to break up with her. They also argued that she should be sentenced to life in prison.

A jury rejected the defense argument that she killed him in self-defense and convicted her of first degree murder in April with a 40-year suggested prison term.

Campbell County Circuit Court Judge Fred A. Stine is set to deliver a final sentence in the murder case on June 15, reports Cincinnati.com.

At the time of the shooting, Hubers, who was pursuing a master's degree in school counseling, and Poston had been dating off and on for about year. Text messages revealed that Poston wanted to break up with her. He also had a blind date set up with 2012's Miss Ohio on the night he was killed.

However, according to prosecutors, Hubers didn't want to let him go. She shot him six times while he was sitting at a dining room table: twice in the head, once in the back, once under his arm and twice in his chest. She then called 911 to report that she killed Poston in self-defense after an argument and physical altercation ensued, but crime scene photos showed no evidence of a struggle between the couple.

After being taken into custody at the Campbell County Detention Center, she confessed to the killing during an interview with police. Video also revealed that Hubers danced and sang the words, "I killed him. I killed him," while in an interview room before her hearing.

According to police Chief Bill Birkenhauer, her bizarre action indicated that she was proud of the murder.

"This was one of the strangest things, when she was doing that dancing, snapping her fingers and twirling around, almost as if she was proud of it," said Birkenhauer.

Hubers also told police, "He's very vain. One of our last conversations we had that was good was that he wants to get a nose job, and I shot him right here. I gave him his nose job he wanted. I broke it," reports ABC News.

In addition, she asked weird questions about going to jail.

"If you go to jail are you allowed to keep your phone? ... Can you shower there? Or do you just get really dirty? ... I have to shower in front of people? Oh sh*t," she said.
