In the tradition of nearly all episodes since its beginning in 1963, "Doctor Who" will be bringing a few returning characters that may sound familiar to viewers in Season 9.

The BBC has never been shy about letting out information, especially now with the prevalence of social media. There are a few particular details to those announcements that might be of some interest to viewers.

First of all, as CarterMatt reports, Joivan Wade will be returning to the ninth season of "Doctor Who" in his same role as Rigsy.

The episode featuring Wade's Rigsy was written by "Being Human's" Sarah Dollard.

Dollard released a statement on this and about the episode.

"Getting to play in the Doctor Who toy box is a dream come true. It's a total honour to contribute to a show that has brought me such joy as a fan. However, writing for Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman has presented a serious problem: some days I've been too excited to actually sit down and type!," Dollard's statement read.

Rigsy is the graffiti artist who notably helped Clara during the Doctor's stranding in the tiny TARDIS, as reported by Den of Geek. His character will be back on Episode 10 of next season with no further details about what to expect.

In other news on Season 9, Telegraph reports that Rebecca Front and Peter Capaldi will be reuniting on the show. The two stars were formally known for their comedic interactions in the TV political satire "The Thick Of It." That show ended in 2012, but not before winning one of England's coveted BAFTA awards.

Last year, though, "The Thick of It" alum Chris Addison also appeared on "Doctor Who" for two episodes at the end of the season.
