Original nonlinear programming has performed very well for Netflix over the past few years. With hit series like "House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black" and "Daredevil," the streaming platform has been making significant investments in original programming, as reported by BGR.

But this summer, Netflix and its streaming video buffet service has added a few shows to its upcoming lineup, one of which includes a rescue effort for the hit movie "Wet Hot American Summer," which will be a prequel series to the original film.

There are also some additions to this summer and next summer's lineup that we can expect to see, which also includes Season 5 of their rescued show "Arrested Development."

What's new on the list, according to Variety, is four new animated shows geared toward kids programming. That includes "Tarzan and Jane," "Cirque du Soleil Luna Petunia," "Kulipari: An Army of Frogs" and "Puffin Rock."

"Puffin Rock" is the only one set to debut this year on Sept. 1, 2015. It is a fantasy cartoon set off the coast of Ireland featuring a charismatic young puffing named Oona.

"Kulipari: An Army of Frogs" is based off the trilogy of books written by NFL star Trevor Pryce. The story was inspired by his memories of childhood, which is when he had a fear of frogs. It follows a group of poisonous frogs, scorpions and spiders who go to war to ensure their survival. It has been given a 13-episode order.

Edgar Rice Burroughs' "Tarzan and Jane" is a modernization of the classic tale, where Tarzan returns from the jungle to London and meets Jane at a boarding school.

"Cirque du Soleil Luna Petunia" portrays a girl who lives in the real world but plays in an imaginative dream world where anything can happen and anything is possible. It has been given an 11-episode order by Netflix.

Netflix is also going to feature the first runs of foreign series "Masha and the Bear" (Russia), "The Day My Butt Went Psycho" (Canada) and "Elias" (Norway).
